PRINCE MANVENDRA SINGH GOHIL
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8TH AT 9 AM PDT
In advance of Coming Out Day on October 11th, the Rotary Club for Global Action is thrilled to welcome a very special Speaker Series event on Saturday, October 8th from 9 am to 10:30 am Pacific. Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil is the probable heir of the honorary Maharaja of Rajipla in Gujarat. He is also the first openly gay prince in the world.
Despite being temporarily disowned by his family and Indians burning his effigies in the streets, Prince Manvendra remained a staunch proponent for LGBTQ+ rights in India and around the world. He turned his palace grounds into a refuge for LGBTQ+ outcasts and has worked tirelessly to get India to ban conversion therapy and to grant the LGBTQ+ community the rights to marriage, inheritance and to adopt. Additionally, this summer Prince Manvendra gave his support to LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in Mumbai who are working to create the first LGBTQ+ Rotary Club anywhere in Asia.
This compelling conversation will be moderated by our Immediate Past President, Brian Rusch.
